There are a number of resorts across Spain that are known for the high quality golfing experiences that they offer, however none of them come close to comparing with the experience that is on offer at La Manga Club. The club has now been operating for an incredible forty years and to mark this milestone in the life of the club, South African golfing legend Gary Player has paid tribute to the club and all that it offers to its guests. Player was the first Director of Golf employed by the club and was a key component in making the club the huge success that it is today.
40th Anniversary Salute
Now aged 76 Player’s passion for the game has not diminished. Winner of nine major tournament titles and a staggering 165 individual tournaments he knows a thing or two about what makes a good course into a championship course. The course at La Manga Club opened back in 1972 and soon after its opening played host to the Spanish Open Tournament for five successive years making it one of the key golfing destinations in Spain right from the outset. Player not only paid tribute to the quality of the courses at the club, but also to the people that run and oversee the successful running of the club at all levels, claiming that they offer a friendly and welcoming environment that makes golfing at La Manga so pleasurable.
